Appliance Repair in Griffin, GA

Griffin is a city in Georgia under the Spalding County, which is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Known as the “Iris City,” Griffin has grown from a railroad “boomtown” to a thriving metro Atlanta suburb that has been featured as a production site in several movies and television shows like “The Walking Dead” and “The Hunger Games” and in History Channel’s television show “Top Gear.”

Recognized as one of the United States’ historic places, Griffin features a beautiful and intact old downtown district where you can find almost anything, from food to clothes, accessories, culture and arts.

The downtown district has undergone streetscape beautification projects to preserve its historical value, infused with a modern touch to go with the times.

Twice a year, the Griffin Downtown Council sponsors a “Taste of Downtown Griffin” – held first Thursday of May and October — where tourists and locals alike are given a dose of entertainment, excitement and lots of surprises within the historic downtown district.

They can do their shopping at the downtown and dine to their heart’s content amid the city’s historic buildings and landscaped centers.

Downtown’s antique stores are offering the best deals in town while unique restaurants and specialty shops are a place to visit for good food and fashionable products.

Griffin and the Spalding County are known for their involvement in the arts, foremost of which are ballet, choral music and drama, steered by the leadership of the Griffin Area Arts Alliance, which helped restore the Griffin Auditorium, a 1100-seat facility that serves as the venue of the annual concert series of the Griffin Community Concert Association and the Griffin Ballet Theatre productions.

Then there’s the annual June Jam, Christmas Tree Lighting, Downtown Trick and Treating and historic self-guided tour of downtown Griffin.

Aside from the “Taste of Downtown,” tourists and locals are also treated to a variety of activities all year round, with parades and fireworks to celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July and the annual Iris City Beauty Pageants.

Every October, adults and children alike would surely enjoy the midway rides and games during the Kiwanis Spalding County Fair.

Annually every last weekend of April, the Iris City Arts and Crafts Festival is also held with a bang, regularly sponsored by the Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce.

Local entertainers are hired to enliven the event while artists and craftsmen joined in showing off their masterpieces,

The festival also serves as a fund raising activity for local clubs and organizations to finance their community projects.

During the first weekend of May, the Great Griffin Mayfling Arts and Crafts Festival is also held.

These, and other activities, are held annually to showcase the city’s streetscape program and the unique architecture of the historic downtown district.

This is to show off Griffin’s booming area with a proud historic past.
